How Much is Too Much Homework?

                                                                                     By Jayashree Pakhare

We often come across the new age students complaining about too much homework. Do today’s students have too much homework? Let us discuss how much is too much homework…

No hard work means, no gain. These words seem very harsh and brutal but are very true. Rags to Riches stories of many millionaires are replete with instances of hardship suffered by these achievers during their boyhood and youth.

In life, winners are those who are resolute and pursue their goals. They work meticulously every step of the way and stay resilient when they do not succeed.

How much is too much homework? Before answering this question one needs to know what is hard work. Hard work means to learn to enjoy challenging work and to get success in it. Unfortunately, there is a myth behind the actual meaning. Hard work does not means more time, more energy and less relaxation. Instead, it is a smart work quoted by management. Hard work is like a gem, which turns dreams into reality.

Too much homework means filling colors in the world of imagination and giving it a new form. The newly formed world glitters with gems of name and fame. Hard work is the only mantra to get success. Nothing can surpass the excellence of hard work .It is regarded as the key to win the world. This statement has been proved correct since the times immemorial. It is rightly said that even gold begins to melt when it is put to the test of fire. The moment we enter the teenage, we began to stagger and our mind becomes full of anxiety. All this happens just in the appetite to become more and more successful in life.

The word success has dominated man completely. Its impact is so much so that even the people with enormous confidence are seen under a peculiar group of fear, with their mind and soul under shin and tension. Success is the word, which has given the destination to work hard.

However, the problem occurs when people think that too much homework means taking work as pain giving object and making life uncomfortable with the same. They take challenges with an idea of putting their energies with negative attitude in the hope to get fruitful results.

Does hard work necessarily have to be painful? No, of course not! Too much hard work means to eliminate useless activities and focusing on the terms Dedication and Determination .Hard work done with these two terms makes glass full. There is a positive co relation between hard work and these two D’s .When we do too much hard work this means that we are challenging something, which holds power to challenge us. If we observe all the greatest endeavors carried out in this world, we find that behind them hard work is the sole driving force, without which everything is impossible.

A person can challenge dominant force only if he has power to work hard. Thus; hard work forms the foundation of every new achievement, every new invention and every new discovery along with victory.

The passion to hard work cannot be imposed upon anyone. It comes from deep inside one’s heart. Hard work cannot be measured. The quantity of hard work passed depends upon how much positive your approach towards life is.

Without hard work person cannot face challenge and he ends up becoming the failure in his life.

Life without hard work
1. is as good as a dead person
2. life becomes like a deflated balloon

It is the force, which enlightens the candle of hope giving strength to fight against all odds.

Too much of hard work gives person a quality, which invigorates a person to win over his or her physical disabilities. The passion and fragrance obtained in the mania to accept challenge is so strong that even physically challenged persons can easily overcome their handicaps,

The nice thing about hard work is that it is universal. It does not matter what industry you are in. Hard work requires on more pillar to stand. It is acceptance. Hard work and acceptance are two sides of one coin. One must accept this point that the things which can not move easily can be easily succumb by hard work.

Life takes new shape once you impede avoiding and panicking hard work and make it your partner instead of your foe.

Hard work is the sole witness at the sepulcher of the unsuccessful at everything. It is a worth, giving everything, we have in life to hard work because it is the only obligation towards our life. It is our destiny. It is better to die while attempting to reach our destiny than never making an attempt and live a purposeless life. Hard work gives direction to our life and determines our future.

Apart from this, one should keep in mind that proper balance is also required. Too much of everything is bad. It should be life giving hard work not like taking. The truth is that we are the scribes of our own destiny. Maintaining balance should also be the important point to be considered while going through hard ships of life.

  1. Good article!!! I also agree with the words that the life without work will be look like a dead person`s life. In my opinion, this article somehow neutral you show how its important having much work and also not forget about keeping balance. You choose good position not pushing on only one position you showed both sides of the medal.

  2. I agree that “quantity of hard work passed depends upon how much positive your approach towards life is”. Achieving a goal motivates people to hard work. When you are really eager to get at assigned aim, hard work is the shortest way! In my opinion, any efforts are rewarded. But, as it’s written in article, we should “keep in mind that proper balance is also required”.

This article mainly contains information about hard work whereas it’s supposed to be written about HOW MUCH TOO MUCH HOMEWORK IS! Only beginning has a little information related to the topic. If I evaluated the content of the article, I would put 3 out of 10. It has not logical cohesion and seems to be incomprehensible. Besides, There is too much extra information...

From my point of view, too much homework is when you physically have not time to finish it on time. I mean when you work hard without stopping but still get behind with. This calls too much homework!

  3. You wrote an incredibly good article. I really liked the way you organized the sequence of the definitions of "hard work". I totally agree that hard work is something pleasant that helps us to accomplish our life goals. We are on the same way at defining that nothing can be much worthier than the excellence of hard work. Unfortunately, some people think that too much homework is painful. I strongly disagree with this statement because I think that if hard work is painful for somebody, it means that one is lazy, passive, or even pessimistic person. I appreciate hard work because it is the key to successful and independent life. In the end i would like to say that you are right, too much something is bad either relaxation or hard work!

  4. Yes it is really good article such as others said. This article is full of various information which calls people to work hard in order to get success or to be successful.Even there is simlpe example: "No hard work means,no gain." I agree this facts, but more I agree to the end part of the article, because "too much of everything is bad" and we don't need to work hard or to do too much homework to achieve our goals. If we try intently to reach all our dreams, we can "get fruitful results." I mean that people can do everything step by step in time, and It doesn't mean that those people, who don't want to do too much homework, are lazy or pessimist. They have their own ways to achieve aims. They are other types of people who are reaching goals.
One more example is that SOME People who work hard and a lot may not reach their wishes, aims. It might be.Why not!they think that "If I do a lot, I'll get a lot", but they don't catch exact point which helps to get a success/goal, they walk arund that point.
In my opinion, It depends on the person to do too much homework or to know to do it in a simple way.

    1. Let me tell you something! Nothing can be achieved without hard work! That so-called "simple way" that you mentioned doesn't exist.. If you really insist on your opinion.. please, elaborate it and give more detailed information. By the way, keep in mind, nothing can be achieved without hard work!

    2. you know, I didn't mean that person shouldn't strive or work hard. I wanted to say that no need to become sweaty from morning till night in order to do something. by "the simple way" I meant that there are some people who know easier ways of accomplishing some complicated things. if there are some easy ways why need to prefer complicated ones. All I wanted to say was that.

    3. Maybe, maybe..! Then I envy 'that' some people.. B'cuz in my opinion, there's not any easy way of achieving something.

  5. I totally agree that “No pain, no gain”. Unfortunately, nowadays not everyone can understand that nothing comes without doing anything. Although people have everything in order to achieve their goal, but they even do not try to experience. They just take a back seat of life. Through difficulties people learn how to appreciate the life. I like this article also I liked that point how hard work and acceptance are described on one coin: “One must accept that point that the things which can not move easily, can be easily succumb by hard work”.

I guess, the most successful person is that person who is used to work hard in order to achieve his goals. It is really interisting article. Also, I`ve read "Rich daddy, Poor daddy" by Robert Kiosaki. There are a lot of good examples of reaching up any purposes and also very useful methods how to do this=) I recommend you to read this book. Well, thanks for nice disscusion. I like it =)

You did very good job. In general, I liked your article. But, I would like to go a little bit into details, probably ones that are not likely accepted well by me.
I think, there is almost no link between hard work and too much homework in this article. I did understand the point which you are trying to emphasize: " Doing too much homework is a challenging/hard work, by only which you are expected to succeed. I understood it because I tried to work out the relationship between those 3 terms: hard work, too much homework and success, and I found it myself by my logical thinking. Whereas, the article should have reflected and directly delivered me to this point with appropriate words. This means I am still keeping my own opinion, depending on my way of thinking, because your article couldn't lead me to think in the way you do. I'm sorry if I seem sarcastic a bit, but I have to say that you have got very wide range of imagination which is seen in your beautiful comparisons(like "hard work is a gem"), but you have a lack of ability to connect your ideas. That's why while reading a reader finds lots of different and new ideas flowing and, perhaps, gets confused a bit.As a result, the reader may feel as if she/he is reading something information-based which includes separate new ideas that are likely not to have a general cohesion in meaning. I'd suggest that you do over the 5 initial parts of your article.Being creative minded and having good and broad imagination on everything, which means being able to connect things by comparing them is good, of course. But, if one considered a good article writer is not able to represent them in a good range of words and in an appropriate order so that readers don't get lost in new and new ideas, is of no value inspite of excellent, worth-to-know ideas one has in mind. Because words are important for articles since article writing is a great art of words.

  7. The article is very good. I can say that I learned a lot of new and useful words. The language of the article is very influential like a fiction book. It might be because of using very excellent phrases and words. When I read the title I thought that I`d take much information about why students consider they have too much homework. In contrast, I found that this article is about hard work and its advantages rather than too much homework. Writer sometimes wrote about homework, for example, at the beginning of the and at the end of the article, but unfortunately, almost all of the other parts are about hard work. It means that the structure is not well-organized.

  8. Good work with effective words and nice descriptions. You can influence on readers’ worldwide with the help of your article. But I have only comment to you. It will be good if you change your title. Because you wrote about hardworking, though your topic is “How much is too much homework?”. Maybe, you wanted to say that hard work is result of doing too many home tasks, instead of saying too much homework can be example of hardworking. However you did not. You see it is very confused. You should have followed your title, so that make it more understandable. Despite this reason I liked your article. That is why I would love its title will be changed not the text itself.

  9. I would highly appreciate any education-related articles, including the given one. To admit, we like to complain about the amount of homework assigned by teachers forgetting that nothing happens easily. I have recently found out the truth that a student is what s/he does as homework. Homework is self-work done by studenta on themselves.
That is a really motivating script for us, lazy students. I accept it as wake-up-ring to stop seeking an easy way to acheive

    1. Yes, that's true. Sometimes we should work hard in order to have our homework done! :)

  10. In a nutshell, it is nice article, and I don’t think that the title isn’t appropriate to the article. Nevertheless, it would be good to change the title a little. However, I think that writer wanted us to realize the importance of hard work in doing homework. Doubtlessly, today’s student don’t do homework as much as other activities. Most of them are busy with other things, and when it comes to do homework they are a bit lazy. So it’s useless to try to make them do homework because it requires hard work, especially when you are tired, busy with other stuffs or fed up with doing homework. As I understood writer tried to show the benefit of hard work and what can be achieved from hard working. If the tasks or assignments require much work or much time and you are not capable finish them on time, this does not mean that you are given too much homework. This just shows that you are not good at managing your time, job and other stuffs. So the article’s purpose of talking too much about hard work although the title says another thing, they want students to work hard and do all the homework. Since even small amount of homework seems far too much to be done if you are lazy.
All in all, I liked the article and its content, its vocabulary as well.

    1. I am sorry, but i think, "This just shows that you are not good at managing your time, job and other stuffs" - this is a wrong approach.. if too much homework is given, regardless of your excellent skills at time-managing, you may not be able to accomplish them all.

    2. I queitly agree with Daler. yet, on the other hand, there are such kind of tasks/homework that we cannot manage even with our time management skills. sometimes, tutors give a huge amount of homework, and as a result of it student can get bad affects or problems. I mean health problems, for instance, eye problem, headache etc.
But it should be admitted that most of us are really lazy, as you said!:)

  11. Daler, even if you are good at managing time, it doesn't mean that you are able to do any amount of homework! Sometimes it can be too much. I think we've never been given such amount of homework in IELTE, that's why you can not imagine it.

    1. Yes, you are right. We have not been given a huge amount of homework so far, and I agree there are such homework that really can make students weary. However, Valikhan, I've got a question for you: Did you find any sentence in which I have written "I'm good at managing my time". Furthermore, I didn't say that I am able to do any amount of homework. I just wanted to say that now there is no point to try to make students do homework because some of tasks really require hard work. We hear complaints about not doing homework at university or at home. So we need to understand what hard work is. As I understood, writer, may be, tried to show us the importance of hard work, what benefits it can bring, and what we are able to do when we work hard as well as how much homework will not seem too much for us when we work hard.

      Delete
    2. Sooo, we can see the author DID lose the connection between the title and and the content.. therefore, we students are doubting what he precisely wanted to mean by his article. The term HOMEWORK directly refers to the academic life and involves students.. whereas the article per se is not what we expect from the title!

    3. Daler, u wrote: "If the tasks or assignments require much work or much time and YOU are not capable finish them on time, this does not mean that YOU are given too much homework. And here: "even if you are good at managing time, it doesn't mean that you are able to do any amount of homework!" i didn't mean exactly you, it concerns everyone! I just wanted to say that your statement is not true! But thank you for sharing your opinion with us!

  12. I liked your ideas.Because, you wrote about traditional complaint among students. In my opinion, while reading your article , we can find answer for this problem .Your article is full of wise words. It is good, because it take attention of readers. As so ,we can get more advantages from your article. The language of article is easy to understand. Except for , our thoughts about a myth that hard work means more time , more energy and less relaxion will change.
Unfortunately, you have some mistakes in your article.First, your article is about homework , but you gave definition for the word “ hard work “. Second mistake is you only focused on positive sight of hard work . As you mentioned that a coin has 2 sides, so hard work also has negative sight at the same time.So you should give information about negative sights of hard work.I think , it would be better. After this, the readers can compare two sights and they will have absolute knowledge about them.

You know the brain undergoes structural changes on long exposure to stress such overwork. This makes the brain's owner more disposed to see the negative side of events, rather than the positive.we can also identify the scientific reasons for negative reactions of excessive perceived stress and the one set of depressive illness caused directly by being subjected to a heavy workload. As you know to work hard takes your more energy. And it causes to be in depression.

  13. Ulbosin, I totally agree with that you found the content of the article doesn't match with what is written on the title. But I firmly disagree with that the writer should have provided the negative sides of hard work at the same degree with positive sides. He didn't miss to write negative sides, of course, he wrote them at the end. And that he preferred writing them at the end of the article was good idea. If he wrote the negative sides in the middle or somewhere we couldn't get what his purpose is actually.
And if he wrote negative sides equally with positive ones the article might have lost its persuasive function. As you know article should lead readers to think what the writer is trying to direct them and persuade them to one point, not two or three which is rather confusing for the readers

  14. Iroda I agree first part of your comment, but I think that this article has already been done confusingly. As I mentioned before, writer mostly wrote about only hard work, within the hard work she gave something about the topic, that`s why it is difficult to identify the main idea of the article. I want to ask that how the writer would make her article confusing, if it has already been confusing.

First is that she said the author tried to explain student`s problems, but i did not find any explanations about them. The author only wrote about hard work, he did not mention any idea about either students or their problems. Second one is that She said "the author of this article gave such kind title to catch attention of readers",if she thinks so, reader should understand the connection between the title and the text. For example, Aziza is reader, yet she says "Title of it was somehow unclear for me". So, Where's the author's catching attention???

Although, as everyone above has stated that the author gave different information from the title, he could give precious thing for us making us think deeply about our whole life; it, in turn, assists us to be more considerate and thoughtful about the steps we take and the decisions we make. Maybe as Daler told above, we could think of different thing as ‘maybe he wanted say this or that’, but the author’s biggest mistake was made by saying the following: “Do today’s students have too much homework? Let us discuss how much is too much homework”. Anyways, the author could manage to provide us with very helpful information and to show us how important hard work is. Further, I also want to reiterate that HARD WORK is a key to every success that a human being can ever achieve.

  20. Well, As my course mates said that the article is good, i think there's no need for mentioning it once more. From this article i liked one idea. As i understood, it says most people think that working hard is the process which is unpleasant, boring,at the same time, which demands more time, energy and which makes people feel tired. But I do not consider so, because every hard work, duty or difficulty lead us to success. Sometimes We are ourselves afraid of taking on more work because of our laziness. Am I right???

    1. Lily, of course every (maybe not every) hard work leads us to success, bu it's already the upshot of hard work. It's the result of having such hard work that demands more time, energy and makes you feel tired. Without this kind of "unpleasant" process you cannot succeed. That's why we should keep in mind that hard work is only the way directed to success, but not the success itself. Before success you have a lot of challenging ways to go through, which is called hard work. May be that's why it seems unpleasant.

      Delete
    2. I also wanted to say you will achieve something valuable in your life because of having hard work that demands more time, energy. I think you misunderstood me Iroda.

    3. If I really misunderstood something, I'm sorry. I replied like this, because I thought you don't think that hard work demands more time, energy and that it makes people feel tired, as you said

    4. People who are doing something in a bad mood, cannot enjoy and cannot reach their aim. That is the reason why we should take pleasant from our work. If the pocess is unpleasant for you, you cannot feel your goal's breath, let's say. Men who can enjoy even their hardwork are able to feel it. So, they can do their difficult works without any nervousness or boredom!

  21. I think, the article has a deep meaning in it and beyond it. The reason why i am telling so is that the article seems to challange people to work hard and to reveal that people get much from it. A person lives a life of toil, undergoes difficulties, but someday they will see the fruit of his lable as the author says. I'm very impressed by the author's words, especially his meaningful, enchanting words. One mistake of this article is its title as Valikhan,Oysha,Daler and others mentioned. Hovewer, the article has a spiritual meaning, which is instructive. We all know that delight comes through hard work. Despite the fact a person comes across difficulties, he should tolerate. The most significantly, S/he should hope for the prospect. You have laboured, and you will enjoy your labour. It's revered by people around you. If it's not, you relish your labour. Generally speaking, the article is superb. Why did I like the article? The answer is that it is edifying and challenging. With this article, I think Ms. Sevara is going to urge us to study and work hard. I support her ideas and purposes. Others, Muse on the following question! Will we not have done good for ourselves and our country if we study and work hard?

    ReplyDelete
  22. In my opinion, the problem which is raised is very good for students and teachers. And Jayashree Pakhare tried to answer to the question, but it was somehow far from the problem. He wrote about how we can success without learning or studying and what is hard work for him. The author explained just his thoughts.
I think every success comes with difficulties. According to my own experience, I can say that if I did not work hard on me, I would not be here. Working hard is the honest way to reach our goal. But there is boundary in anything, even in study. Too much homework means having many tasks at the same time and having desire to do it perfectly. And sometimes we could not manage it

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's not reply.
I don't agree with what he(the author) thinks about hardwork.
We don't have to enjoy challenging work to do hard work. Sometimes, in order to reach our goal we have to do the things we don't want to do, which means we force ourselves. And what we do willingly or unwillingly is also hard work. Furthermore, hard work doesn't mean to get success in it. It is only the result of it. Doing homework doesn't mean certainly, getting success.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, you are totally right when you say Sometimes we have to force ourselves. However, That is what the author meant to mean. we should enjoy What we force ouselves to do

      Delete
    2. When people do something they will have some purpose like to achieve something. In order to get it the person should enjoy their work. Because if you do something willingly it can work or bring you success that you need very. If you do something unwillingly it doesn't mean that this work is hard. So,will you take it as a hard work if you don't want to do it even it's easy for people?

      Delete
    3. I think yes, because every student has his own approach to everything. When students are given a task, for some students it can be easy, but for others is much more difficult. There are so many reasons for that. Any work seems hard when you are unwillingly do it.

    4. Shahnoza, yes, you are right. But work even you forced yourself to do is also hard work. If not so, do you think that all the people who are working hard are enjoying it? You cannot always enjoy what you do in the pursuit of a goal, there are some things that may trouble you and in these cases you have to force yourself to smth. And exactly this is what makes the work hard.

    5. If I force myself to do something it will not work, so I try to do anything willingly. Maybe it's my method that cannot work for others However, I will go on enjoying my achieving way to my goal. In my opinion it helps to make it easier!

    6. Iroda, you are right, agree with you!
Shahnoz, good method =) Unfortunately, we can't always make ourselves enjoy the work we do unwillingly. That's the point. Agree with statement that any work seems easier when you enjoy doing that.

Nice topic! This article is really interesting however, I want to write my opinions about the content and organization of this article.1st paragraph you wrote, takes attention of the readers and makes them focus and concentrate. But 2nd paragraph seemed strange for me 'cos before u mentioned about " homework" and here about " No hard work"; the link between them is absent.
Punctuation needed. In my point of view, your article is full of definitions and information which can lead to confusion.being a little bit simple in explanations is more effective to express ur points. It was good when you gave good sides more in your article.Perfect conclusion with effective quotes!

  25. First of all, I didn’t understand is this article about hard work or homework? Anyway, I guess hard work is a very necessary thing in our life, cause if you wanna achieve something or someone you’ve got to do your best. When everybody works hard to have what they want they feel alive, as trying to embody dreams into the life makes people wake and do something every day. Unfortunately, some dreams never come true and they will stay unattainable or try to let them go…

  26. Many consider sounds that nowadays, educational programs amount (at school/university) is significantly a lot.
Unfortunately, another point is that youth people cannot take all required information. So, many of them complain about that they have too much homework.
While preparing to university I also thought about this issue. I believe that the article itself is so suitable for its readers (us).
The language of this very article was intelligible and clear. As well as, it made me to be interested in it. Personally, I agree that NOHARD WORK MEANS, NO GAIN.
As Aristotle said after hard work there always will be fruitful results.

  27. "Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it.. Autograph your work with excellence!" unknown author

A serious topic, an urgent issue. Life is becoming too fast, too complicated. Spending too much time on things we don't need, and ignoring the needed ones (including studying). However, studying should not be understood as an academic performance only. Studying is a way of living, meanwhile, hardworking is a path.. We walk on them during our lives, and finally get to success. So no need to complicate it even more, enjoy your way, enjoy your path, so that only then you can enjoy your success! As Vincent “Vince” Lombardi used to say, "The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary".

By these words I want to express my gratitude to Jayashree Pakhare for understanding the urgency of this issue and opening it. Really liked the ideas in the article, and also the writer's sensible view of things. Proceeding to the title, I also agree that it is inappropriate. However, no work is done without a mistake, so I wish him/her to work a little harder while choosing a topic, just for future reference!))

  28. This is very nice article. Though, unfortunately, I agree with Valikhan's opinion, because I found a lot of information, but I don't think that, it was connected with the title. The article is about reasons of why we must work hard or what kind of consequences it brings. However before I began to read it, I’d been waiting to get not this kind information. In spite of that, I agree, that hard working is very important in our life. Besides the harder the challenge, the sweeter the victory...
In addition when people start to work harder, they can feel fullness and satisfaction, and they get more ambitious. As a result, they gain something more, and they will exactly know that they deserve it by working hard.
Javohir to your question about disadvantages of hard working I want to answer that there are some which I had myself. They can be health problems as, nervousness, irritability, tiredness, problems with eyesight, particularly while studying and etc.

  30. I especially liked the phrase from the article that "hard work like a gem that turns dreams into reality" while doing too much hard work, people achieve their goals of course with difficulties, but they figure out that hard wokk demands its own challenges. I think that's why when people face with hard work they begin complain about it and they don't have desire to do or face with difficulties. In my opinion hard work is like a rainbow. When people do hard work they face with various things and feel yourself in different condition.Withn difficulties life is interesting. And now a little about the article, there were given a lot of definition about hard work and after each explaination given proofs and the article is scientific.

  31. I agree all opinions which are given in the article. Say truly, I liked this article, but as my course mates said and in my opinion, the article IS somehow different from the title. The title is "How Much is Too Much Homework?", but the article is written about hard working. Maybe, author would like to say that TOO MUCH HOMEWORK IS HARD WORKING. However, if people have much homework they should work very hard in order to do all of them and achieve something. I really adored author's one sentence: "The nice thing about hard work is that it is universal. It does not matter what industry you are in". I got useful information about hard working. Thank you for your interesting facts.

  32. First of all, I should confess that this article, though written in a rather complicated, academic language attempting to clarify for us whether we are really obliged to do too much homework these days, does not fully refer to the topic and tells us more about the idea on hard working. The author of this report, Jayashree Pakhare, a person with colourful imagination, provides lots of metaphors, idioms and logicl conclusions which, of course, hold the reader's attention an add some positive influence on the reader's mind. Some of his statements regarding to hard work are so impressive and easy to remember, for they associate this quality with such abstract and mysterious items as mantra, dstiny, compass giving direction to our life that these statements can become cliches in our vocabulary and used in our everyday life. However, I think these complifications are overused in the report making it foggy ad smoky for an ordinary reader whose imagination may not be so deep and rainbow-like and who would like to see clear evidences of what is really too much homework. The author's teological approach to life is brilliant, I will not argue, but he chose a wrong way to make himself clear for the reader. Why not to write that there is not the problem of too much homework, but it is a person's laziness and some distractions of life that waste our time and give us justifications for being such lazy bones sometimes, that homework seems to us as a foe. I think this would be much easier to contemplate than trying to chase after the writer's ideas which throw us from one definition of hard work to another one. Nevertheless, i just oppose the writer's technique of laying out his idea which is not so clearly related to the topic, but I find his thoughts about hard work to be exclusively interesting and true. The reports of this kind are worth being presented to a wide audience, especially young one, who diminish the role of hard work in their lives and prefer not to bother themselves with complex tasks and goals. One more thing that I liked in the report is the suggestion to keep balance in every aspects of life since too much of anything is already bad.

  33. I liked all comments which my groupmates posted, let me to cotribute my own.

This article is based on a hard work, at the same time author tried to connect it with students’ homework. Do students have too much homework? From my point of view we don’t have too much homework. The homework which is given by our teachers is very easy and simple to do. However, we students often become anxious because of postponing our assignments before the deadline, and we consider it as a problem which we have in academic life. Actually, student’s work is studying hard, doing all tasks on time. Some students may blame that teachers give too much homework, but they are doing right, because they want us to study hard and become well-educated person. There is hard work there is gain. We can achieve everything with hard working and doing too much homework. You will think not all homework is necessary. In this case you are mistaken. There is nothing unnecessary in study and we should know everything that we need. To put in a nutshell I want to say that doing too much homework is the key aspect for future achievements.

    1. Yes, Islomiddin I agree with your opinion. Teachers don't take home tasks from the sky. They take everything into consideration before giving tasks: our time, our ability. If we were not capable to do these tasks we wouldn't be here (I mean the University, IELTE)

  34. Educational articles always inspire students to achieve more and succeed in academic life. This article also encourages us to be more determined and focus on the subjects to reach our goals. I like this.
But after reading this article, I want to know that does hard work always fruitful? Does it always give results what we expected for a long time? In my opinion, we should determine our exact aim in advance. Also, we should consider whether it will be successful or not. Sometimes, we are given such home tasks that are largely irrelevant to our academic purposes. I think, it’s no use spending time such fruitless tasks.

  35. After reading these comments I realized that, to work hard does not always give success as Jahongir wrote. I agree with his thoughts about our (I mean IELTE students) some tasks. Sometimes although we work hard we do not reach our goals in the life. As a result it makes us be lazy. And even we have less tasks, they seem to be very much.

  36. I agree with Jahongir's opinion that not always hard work is succesfull.Sometimes we are given a lot of tasks by teachers and we spend a lot of time in order to do them on time, but we get low scores.I think. after getting such low marks, students don't want to do tasks, because they know that hard work isn' always succesfull.

  37. Yes I do agree with you Mahira, you're quite right! after doing a great deal of work, some teachers just even don't accept your work because of very stupid reasons or just "difficult" character...maybe they don't understand after doing such thing they make student hate hard working and even just working, because students realize that nobody will appreciate it. However I hope that students' stimulus in working will not disappear, and they will always try to do their best!

We should make a goal , and aspire to it . We should hard work . Because it`s our destiny , what else we should do in our life?
To relax? But some ways of life of some people remind me the fable of Krilov "Ant and dragonfly" . All of us chose our own character.
But don`t forget that we should have a balance . To work hadr and relax :)
We live our life only once )
So , let me to return to the name of article .

Unfortunately, I didn't find any information about the amount of homework that can be considered as too much. Even though, it is written, “Before answering the question (the title) one needs to know what is hard work”, I got to know everything except the thing I was initially interested in (the title).

  42. I really liked the article. The author raised really urgent topic that's very important for today's people who have already been used to seek easy way to reach everything. The content of article is full of statements that acquire sensible meaning and I totally agree with these statements.Really, hard work is a way that leads us to our goals. Yes,it requires your much energy, time and attempt. However can we state anything that doesn't require them. In our life, everything requires energy, attempt and time.(Even to eat your food you spend your energy.)In order to get something you also have to give something, and it's natural.
We should confess that we always try to get more giving less(we want to get 5 not studying for 5, not prepared well for entrance exams we complain from injustice.)
In addition, I am going to tell about the importance of setting goals.Gard work is precious when it is directed. Here I am going to state a quotation by John Steward. He says "Reaching the goal without work looks like a dream(how much it can be pleasant anyway one day you return to real life)while work without exact goal is truly raving. Most people think that their laziness is a barrier to their hard working, but I think it is also connected with goals as Antony Robbins said "people aren't lazy, they just don't have great aims that encourage them"
In conclusion, if we have exact aims, if work hard and if we want it by heart nothing isn't so far away that we can't reach and as mentioned in the article(the statement that I most agree) we must accept this point that the things which can't move easily can be easily succumb by hard work.
By the way, about the title. Maybe there can be connection between much homework and hard work, maybe the author had another intention by choosing this title but anyway the title isn't so appropriate for the content.

  43. I also agree with Yana and Islom's opinion about the name of the topic. I didn't find answer for the question "How much is too much homework"..
However, there is a lot of good information. In my opinion life without work is not life, if people don't do anything they just exist; but, if they do their favorite job, they live a full life. When person do the things which he really wants to do, he enjoys and wants to do his best. It is hard work.
Nowadays, there is, actually, a lot of lazy teenagers who think that even simple homework is very difficult task.

    2. Dinara, I think you didn't understand the real purpose of the writer. In my opinion the title suits to the topic, and under the title " How much is too much homework" the writer explained the value of hardworking, telling that person's hardworking leads him only to success. He didn't intend to measure the amount of work, he concerned that too much work is worth a lot of things.

    3. Shirin, I see what you mean, but, I guess, the title is not so appropriate here. My opinion is based on the fact that this article is mostly about hardworking in general, not about the hard work in academic life as I mentioned above in my comment. Anyway, the article is really worth reading (!) and the title does not mean much here))

    4. yes, Mika, you are right! In my opinion, if the writer wanted to relate much homework to hardwork, he must have written it more clearly and understandable!
But I agree that in order to finish much homework we should work hard. Unfortunately, every student has his own opinion based on his experience about how much is too much homework, that's why we have some misunderstandings arguing with each other.

Actually, the article is persuasive, kinda motivates us to work hard. But I think that all of us had known about hard work before this article was posted.

As i know, some people get at their asigned aims without hardworking. But anyway, there is much more posibillity that of success if you work hard than if u don't. Just asign an aim and try to achieve it as fast as possible, but in a honest way! =))

    5. On the one hand .I agree with Kamola !
Every person should has own objective . And to achieve it .

      Everyone has his own values.

It is fact that 21 century is a period of lazy generation. As time by time there are variety of inventions, it seems that it is too hard to avoid the given time to them. Yes, we are spending too much our time on them. I don't think that today's students have too much homework. As the time passes, there a lot of things to learn. 50. The article is really very good. I liked it. Liked the way of author’s writing. She managed to explain her ideas clear and understandable. Especially I liked her comparison the life without hard work with a dead person. And I liked how she described what is hard work in deed in her opinion with writing “Hard work does not means more time, more energy and less relaxation. Instead, it is a smart work quoted by management. Hard work is like a gem, which turns dreams into reality” I agree with it and consider it true.
But there’s one thing – the title. There is almost no connection between the article and it’s name. yes, you can read there some ideas about homework, but not as much as one thought to face when read the title .

i found in the article really useful advice for me, this article made me to think very carefully about my attitude towards my study at the university.Mostly I liked the expression HARD WORKING IS OUR DESTINY.This 'gold' sentence encouraged me a lot . It will be my motto .

The topic itself is very interesting and involves one of the most important problems of our present, for nowadays majority young people waste their time, and even don't realize that their future depends on their today's activities and work. As I noticed, the purpose of this article is to explain real value of hardworking and challenge young people not to be afraid of it. I liked the writer's way of expressing his thoughts. He doesn't fanatically insist on his thoughts, but also reminds that there should be balance between work and life, and person doesn't need too much work, which is rather useless. However, in my opinion, the article could be more impressive, if the writer gave real facts from the lives of popular and successful people that bring unrefusable arguments.

  60. I liked this article, because of two criteria Firstly -it is informative and educational and secondly-it helped me to answer this question “ how much is too much homework?” I also ask myself sometimes it. I agree with that hard work cannot be measured. For some people it is difficult to learn just one unit, while others can do it easily. I think it depends on person. If a man got accustomed to work long without breaks , he will maintain all difficulties in work, but if person is lazy and every difficulty is a big unsolved problem for him, of course he will be broken under any hard task. And I can answer the question-how much is TOO much homework - TOO much home task we have now!!! I can say that really much! For example I made a notes of all tasks in order not to forget all. But anyway it’s better than sit without work. I can do nothing! And don’t be afraid of big amount of assignments, because as one proverbs says: “ It’s hard to train, but easy to fight”

  61. Yeah , I agree with you Margo that to do homework it's better than just sit without doing nothing.Doing nothing we can spend hours , whole days ,but I am sure that we will probably regret about it very much in future.

Also you made others begin to think about what they would do without work.
I think, for those people who got accustomed always work this words "do nothing" would be just like scarymovie.Always having holidays lead us to the end of world...

  63. This is a very interesting and fascinating article. Even if it is not somewhat related to its title. The article shows a lot of interesting and life arguments and examples. The beginning of the article catches the readers attention and holds it until the end. But I experienced some difficulties when I attempted to link the article with its name. There is the question at the beginning of article How much is too much homework? and I couldnt find even the sentence in the context of the article, which answers to this question. I think the writer wanted to write a kind of instructive article for lazy students and to show that everything is in their own hands and everyone should work for his/her future by themselves. And he could do it. After reading the article, I really started thinking that we need more work for the sake of our own future. So, the article is an excellent, but it is worth considering on its name.

  64. After examining the article I became certain that without hard work person cannot face any kind of challenges and failures in his/her life. By thus I mean that giving homework to student does not mean giving pain object and making life uncomfortable, but against it means – giving a quality, passion and fragrance as well as giving a person general opinion about view of the world. Also I would like to mention hard work as direction to our life and determination of our future and proper balance. The final point to consider is that without hard work our lives may become like a deflated balloons.

I realized that when the given homework captures the student totally, it is never MUCH!!!

    1. Agreeee with you, Aziza! Course, homework itself is saying "work" to be done at home, which is a literal continuation of the things being done at school/university... At school/university a student is given knowledge, knowledge is sth that a human being will never be full of.. then it should not matter for a student whether it's much or too much.. anyway should be DONE!

First of all we should consider one thing that we can improve our skills by hard working. nothing comes for us without hard work. it is the prize for us instead of our tries. In my opinion everybody should put their jobs in equal position. For example:We should never neglect our private life when we are working on social one.
nowadays we can see some people who complains from their work. It is wrong. Because when you enjoy from your work, it means you are happy person

  71. Good article! I agree with the author’s opinion. And I can say that this article can lead people to be hardworking. But one bad thing that as my group mates said that there is no connection between topic and article. When I read the title I thought that it was about lessons or students. But when I moved to the main part it was about gaining aims and hardworking. Although the author wrote article very well, the article full of interesting and un repeatable words. The article is easy to understand . It is a moral article. Especially I liked this sentence "No hard work means, no gain." Because we know that in life no one can get anything without any work. Yes, maybe some people attain their aims because of their luck not hard working. But one day they may lose it. It is easy to lose success. If you get anything that you want with your work it will be efficient and enjoyable.

  72. By reading this article, I understood one thing that if we illustrate our life with hard work, it will be interesting and colorful. (Because everything comes for our motion) but workless people like a clock which has already stopped. If humanity really loves her/his job, it never seems them like “a hard work”. Because every minute of his/her job gives them a great pleasure. s/he knows how to enjoy from their job. Those people really feel themselves as happy people, because they know that they have already found their place in life. And they feel the happiness of being as useful person. These are all given for their motion as a prize. Also one saying from this article really drew my attention. “It should be life giving hard work, not taking”. Because, although me try very hard to achieve lots of things we can not take more than life gives us. There is an Uzbek saying, “Futile attempts break the waist”

  73. Too much homework it's when you have three exams in one day! For example, we will have 3 exams on Tuesday. We should review all material at weekends.
I think sometimes it is good , because it will teach us to cram for 3 subjects in one sleepless night.Techers know how to teach us to aditional learning skills.

  74. I really liked this article but I expected from its title about too much home work . In spite of this article is very interesting and informative. It is true that the road to success is through hard work. If you hardly try and work in the future everything will work out easily.

  75. I think there is no way to success without trying, without hard working. Because everybody gets something which he or she deserved to get. In order to achieve this very “something”, without help and support from others, person should work hardly, do something individually. Therefore, I think we should study, on the way of achieving our goals, try, and get experiences. And no need to say ‘too much homework’. Because if someone doesn’t force us to study we won’t study, as it requires to be the professionals of our job. By the way when we will study? When we will have 10 grandchildren?

  76. I liked all ideas in this article and comments also. First of all, I think homework can not be too much. There is an award behind each hard work. Hard work makes people be more strong. After each challenge and success one is on one step higher. From this article I liked the most the saying "life without hard work is as good as a dead person" because the person who doesn't work is compared to the dead person. There is no progress, no achievement and no succes without hard work.

  77. I think this article is very good. I had a lot of useful information about hardworking and achieving goals. Readers can see words and phrases which can catch attention
One thing that not appropriate is connection between theme and article itself. But still article gives complete information, although organization is a little inappropriate, and cohesion is not provided.
About homework I agree with Valikhan’s opinion, because if student is behind after doing homework all the time, this is too much.
And we can see statements as “what is life without hardworking”. This is somewhat extra, because there is no connection between statement and theme. However, it gives helpful recommendations.

  78. I think this article and its title a bit corresponding to each other. I did not like this article, because while reading this, I noticed that some of the statements of the author very far from my views on life, even if I did not have such a great experience. As an example of one of these statements I can give a phrase from the article: "Hard work does not means more time, more energy and less relaxation". Because in order to achieve something in life you should always put a lot of energy, which means, spend a lot of time and energy. And at the same time I agree with the opinion of the author that many successful people have come to its peak through hard work.

  79. Of course, hard working is the best way of any achievement!!! But life is full of white and black sides as some people are very lazy and not intended to do anything, even if it gives benefit to themselves. I also can be an example for such kind of person, but not in general because I've achieved many things so far. for example, now I'm writing a comment on this topic in English language. It means I know English and I've done something in my life. I'm lazy just in doing my homework, but I'm a kind of person who has a lot of dream. So, I have to work hard, if I want that my dreams come true!!!

  80. In life, nothing can be achieved easily
Everyone in life should have a goal, and everyone should go ahead and pursue this goal.
As it was noted in the article, today's students!, Yes, Today's students! Previously, there were no such opportunities and facilities. As for now, but the students have tried and did everything they were asked to do. But today's students have every opportunity and convenience to do their homework, but they are more accurate, we ignore all this. Instead, we prefer all sorts of fun, and though they could learn and do everything we can to change lives for the better.
Today's students need to be assigned many jobs that they don’t have a minute of free time for unnecessary things, so that immediately after receiving the assignment, they started thinking about doing.
And then we IELTE, used during the semester to walk freely, almost sit back, and then bang, and exams! Honestly, it's hard to start relaxed, and then start to learn.
So, a student must be fully loaded!

  81. yes i agree with this very statement.nowadays we young persons, students get used to find easier way to do something, and it is laziness to try ourselves, create something new. we always don't want to be in difficulties. hard work- it is key to success. i really believe in it. innovation doesn't happens without hard working. producing a great product or service doesn't happens without hard working. really leadership happens in the trenches not on the golf course. software doesn't get produced without thousands of hours of hard working. of course, you have to be smart, you have to have the right strategy and you have to have a great culture. when you make excellence your focus, success and rewards are just a nice byproduct. the reward is in the work, not in the outcome. so we should always be active and try even it's too hard.

  82. Good article! We should acknowledge that the easy life makes us lazy. For instance, we often hear our grandparents comlain about our laziness, and say although they had many difficulties in their life, they were more zealous than us. Or another example, we used to change TV channel ourselves, but after inventing the remote control, we even find clicking difficult. In short, I would like to say that if we have little homework, we become azy, and even don't do it. In contrast, if we have much homework, we try to manage everythng and do all of it.

  83. Good article. I really liked it, and I agree with the statement "hard work forms the foundation of every new achievement, every new invention and every new discovery along with victory".
In my opinion, every student should work as hard as possible. However, at present not all students prefer not to work hard but not to work at all. today students became lazy, they want everything come to them easily without any difficulties. they don't need any achievements and invention. it's a pity that they don't have any aim....

  84. Actually I somehow agree with the article. There are some ideas about hard working, and doing homework a lot. Of course studying hard is useful for students for making their future more better.
Because if there is no work or trying one can not reach a good destination. Furthermore, people mustn’t accept the hard working as a very big problem for them. They must like their work and must be keen on their profession. If they are interested on their job it will be just for pleasure to work hard and study. However, people must not forget about other things like relaxing, having time with their family, holidays, traveling and so on. Because there are some people who think just about their job and carrier and don’t pay attention for their dears and friends.
Anyway in everything there must be a balance, even in hard working, studying, relaxing and etc…

  85. 1-answer. I think, teachers should give extra points, It will make all students think. Especially students with low marks begin to work hard.
2-answer. In my opinion, it depends on topic and on situation. I prefer group work, because it is interesting, students will change their opinions, ideas, thoughts. Individual work also effective for some students who is shy, who can not give their opinions.
3-answer. I think 1) is when teacher too strict. If teacher strict, students are not cable to give their opinion freely .
    2) mistake is when teacher speak to the students in a loud and rudely voice.
    3) mistake is when teacher speak too much, and in monotonous voice. The lecture becomes boring for the students.
4- answer. No, I don’t think so. Because it is not illness, it is not character, or habit. Maybe one teenager’s parents life was in bad situation, but his/her life can be full of happiness, colorful moments, good family. Nevertheless, it won’t influence on teenager’s life.
5-answer. We can see it, when teenager lose interest on everything, he won’t pay attention on study, he becomes nervous and aggressive. He will look upset, he won’t speak more with his close people. In this situation his/her friends should help, not only friends parents also should support.

  86. The author wrote a very interesting article full of lively expressions, clear ideas, amazing metaphors and deep thoughts. To my mind, the answer to the question “How much is too much homework?” can’t be found in the way everyone wants to see it in this article. Surprisingly, almost no posted рук contain the fact that this question does not need the measure or the quantity of too much homework-for different people it is also different. The point is that, as I see it, the emphasize is directed to the desire to work hard and persistently, the quality which plays a great role in fulfilling tasks given as homework. The weaker a person’s wish for hard working is, the more the amount of homework assigned seems to him. There fore, this article is rich in the views of what is hard work, why it is so vital for us, and how to develop it, because hard working assists us not only to finish our assignments, but also helps us to achieve more in life and raise up the corer.
All these thoughts came to my mind while reading that article and I was aspired by the things written there, making for myself the rule to follow the advices I found in the report. One proverb truly says: “an idle mind is the devil’s workplace”, therefore it is high time to get rid of lazyness.
